Rain will remain subdued till July 21, marking the weakening of the vigorous monsoon conditions that had brought bountiful rainfall in two Telugu speaking states — Telangana and AP.

The rain may start again after that, with weather officials identifying another low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal which gather strength by July 21 and recharge the monsoon currents.Till then, the IMD said day temperature may see a slight rise to around 30ºC over the next three days, and dry winds will prevail during the night.

The monsoon currents have returned to normal over Telangana state and weak over AP. Speaking to this newspaper, Mr Mahesh Palawat, vice-president, meteorology and climate change, Skymet Weather, said, “Rain has decreased over TS and AP because the well-marked low-pressure area over Odisha has moved further west and is presently over north-east Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Weather forecasting models have identified another low pressure over the northern Bay of Bengal, this may bring a few heavy spells of rain over northern districts of Telangana. The normal withdrawal date of the monsoon is likely to be September 1 from Rajasthan.
