The Telangana state government on Thursday informed the Hyderabad High Court that the National Green Tribunal at Delhi had constituted a committee to study the alleged construction activity in violation to the GO Ms No. 111 within 10 km of Osmansagar and Himayatsagar.

Additional advocate general J. Ramachandra Rao, while informing about the committee of the NGT to a division bench comprising Justice V. Ramasubramanian and Justice N. Balayogi, urged it to adjourn the hearing of cases on GO 111 till the submission of the report by the committee.

The bench was dealing with batch of petitions challenging inaction of authorities in preventing unauthorised constructions within the 10 km vicinity of both lakes and also challenging the validity of the GO. When the AAG submitted that both the lakes became unused for drinking in view of the supply of the Krishna water, counsel for the petitioners took serious exception.

While considering the request of the AAG, the bench adjourned the hearing for four weeks.
